Legacy and Values
As a third-generation family business, the Villages of Citrus Hills is built upon the vision and values of its founders-Sam Tamposi and Jerry Nash. Born on a dairy farm in New Hampshire to Romanian immigrants, Sam Tamposi was committed to the American dream. Through hard-work, integrity, and perseverance, he rose from a door-to-door Electrolux Vacuum salesman to become one of the nation’s most successful real estate developers.
Always on the lookout for new opportunities and challenges, Sam and Jerry would traverse Florida in their twin DC-3 airplane, searching for the perfect location to build a world-class community. Flying over what is today the Villages of Citrus Hills, they were captivated by the rolling hills, mature live oaks draped with Spanish moss, and the untouched coastline of Citrus County. This was the spot! Landing the plane on a grass strip between rows of watermelon, Sam and Jerry purchased the first 2,000 acres of land with a handshake deal in 1968. Over the next decades, they accumulated over 10,000 acres of gorgeous land while meticulously planning, designing, and envisioning a community unlike any other.

Today, Citrus Hills has built over 6,000 homes for discerning homebuyers from around the globe. Citrus Hills is privately owned, completely free from debt or CDD bonds, and financially sound. We have invested hundreds of millions of dollars in infrastructure, amenities, and development to create a world-class, award-winning community. As much as things have changed since 1968, we remain as committed as ever to Sam and Jerry’s original vision and values: treat every customer like a friend and neighbor, built with quality, and always do the right thing. At the end of the day, this is home for us too. We look forward to calling you neighbor!
