Citrus Hills’ Ideal Micro-Climate
Unlike most parts of Florida that are just a few feet above sea level, Citrus Hills enjoys one of the highest elevations in the state. As a result, when the summer breezes from the Gulf of Mexico interact with Citrus Hills’ higher altitudes, the air circulates and becomes cooler and less humid in the summer. In the winter, the proximity to the coast keeps days milder and more comfortable. With average temperatures between 60 and 80 degrees and gentle breezes all year-around, Citrus Hills’ unique Micro-Climate offers an escape from the humid, swampy, heat that plagues the rest of Florida. Best of all, with elevations over 240’ above sea level, you are relieved from flooding, hurricane, and other climate risks and out-of-control insurance costs.
Temperate Springs
Florida boasts the highest concentration of freshwater springs in the world, and our county is home to the largest springs in the state. Just 12 minutes from Citrus Hills, the Hunger Kings Bay-Three Sisters spring network is Florida’s largest spring, producing over 630 Million Gallons per day of crystal clear water at a constant 73 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, just 10-miles to our north, Florida’s second largest spring, Rainbow Spring, produces over 400 Million Gallons per day at a constant 74.1 degrees Fahrenheit. Together, the natural springs surrounding Citrus Hills gush over One Billion gallons of freshwater that ranges in temperature from 72 to 74 degrees, 365-days a year. These phenomenal, world-renowned springs cool the air temperatures in the summer and make winters more temperate, allowing you to enjoy being outside in fantastic weather all year-round.
The Perfect Latitude
The Villages of Citrus Hills is located at the perfect latitude within the state of Florida. Florida is an extremely large state, spanning over 450 miles from south to north. This creates three distinct climate zones at varying latitudes across the state.
Citrus Hills is located within the “Peak Comfort Zone” that provides comfortable weather throughout the year. Whereas south Florida is plagued by the swampy, hot and humid “Lake Okeechobee” effect that makes summers unbearable, and north Florida experiences freezing temperatures throughout the winter, Citrus Hill’s offers temperate and comfortable weather so that you can enjoy an active and outdoor lifestyle in every season!
